Even though I had numerous bites, I really felt for Vanessa. She had a bite on the side of her nose. It swelled up so that her nose was crooked and by then end of the day her nostril was almost completely closed. (see pic below)
I even sent a picture to my sister-in-law who is an R.N. She advised to put a warm compress on it and keep an eye on it. I did that and also put some hydrocortisone on it. The next day it started looking better. We put the cream on her for a few more days. About Thursday we stopped. It was still a little discolored but the swelling had gone away.
Yesterday, her nose was swollen again. (see pic below)
That didn't seem right. I took her to the doctor. Dr. Laura asked Vanessa if she put anything up her nose. Vanessa answers "Well, I have to tell you...........I did." I was shocked. So we ask her what. Finally she says she didn't really put anything up her nose, she was just trying to be funny. That preceded a discussion about what is an appropriate joke and what is not and how we do not joke at the doctor's office.
Turns out, Dr. Laura couldn't explain the swelling either. We're trying some allergy medicine.
