ADRIENNE MONIQUE WOODS

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY GIRL!

Adrienne was born on Friday February 15 at 2:38pm.
She weighed 6lbs 13oz and was 20.5 in long. She has a lot of dark hair (that explains the heartburn!). She is so tiny and her features are so petite. Of course she is absolutely beautiful!

I was scheduled to be induced that day. The original time was 10am. We called an hour earlier to check if everything was still a-go. We ended up waiting an hour to go in. Apparently a lot of other chicks decided to have their babies on my baby's birth day! The nerve! haha.

Once we got there we waited a another half hour. Got into the room at noon. The nurse, Lisa, hooked me up to all the wires. Adrienne didn't want the monitor on her, she would move as soon as Nurse Lisa found her.

We finally got settled and the nurse started the Pitocin at 1pm. Everything was progressing nicely. Dr. Harmon broke my water about quarter 1:30.

At 2:15 the Nurse Lisa came in to check to see how far along I was. The contractions weren't painful. I was dilated at 4. Lisa had an odd look on her face when she checked me. She thought maybe the baby was breech. She actually said "I need to get someone with longer fingers to check" (yuck!)

Nurse Lisa brings in another nurse (with longer fingers...haha). She checks me and says the baby isn't breech, but she feels the cord. Ok. So, what does that mean? Tony gets concerned because he notices she hasn't removed her hand.

Turns out the cord was prolapsed. The 2nd nurse was keeping Adrienne's head off the cord so the blood flow and oxygen could still get to her. Obviously, this meant an emergency C-section.

All of a sudden 10 doctors and nurses were in my room. It looked like chaos but they all did a great job.

They wheeled me out of the room, the nurse with long fingers was sitting on the end of my bed still keeping Adrienne's head off the cord.

We get the operating room and there are at least 5 other doctors and nurses. When the oxygen is switching to whatever gas they gave me some nurse has me in a chokehold (fingers pressing hard on my either side of my throat) and telling me to relax. I'm pretty sure my insurance covers regular anesthesia, I don't think a chokehold is necessary!

They finally let Tony in after Adrienne was delivered. He said it was sight he'll never forget.

Thanks to God's work Adrienne never suffered any problems. Her stats had never dropped. My doctor said I would have delivered within an hour at the rate I was progressing. Things could have been extremely bad.

I am so thankful I was induced and didn't go on my own. I am so thankful Nurse Lisa found something wrong in time and the 2nd nurse knew what it was.

God blessed us in so many ways on Friday, February 15th. He is so amazing.

He says Hewill never put more on you than you can bear. I have always said I could not lose another child. I am so thankful I didn't have to find out on Friday. Praise God!

Now for a few pictures of my blessing:

After I had Adrienne we called the girls. They were spending their first night away from home and away from us at Grandma Woods house. They were so excited. Harley's first question was "Who is holding Adrienne?". I said that I was. Her next question: "Is she clean?" hahaha. Only Harley would ask that question. After I assured her she was clean she wanted to know who cleaned her. That girl cracks me up.

They are doing really well with Adrienne being around. I am so proud of them!
I will post more pictures soon!

My baby is growing up..........

Vanessa lost her first tooth last night!!

She has two front bottom teeth that have been loose for over a month now. Last night we had steak and corn on the cob for dinner. About half way through dinner Tony leans over and whispers to me "Are you trying to make her tooth fall out?" I hadn't even thought about it! I call her over and sure enough! The tooth was gone, there was blood on the corn.

She was initially excited about the tooth being gone, until she saw the blood. Then there was some freaking out. She calmed down after a while and we placed the tiny tooth in her Tooth Fairy Pillow.

Now if I could just get that other tooth that's barely hanging on to fall out!!

Funny addition to the story.....Vanessa called her grandparents to tell them the exciting news. When she called my dad she said "Grandpa, it fell out!!" Being due any day now, my dad thought she was talking about the baby and thought I had the baby at home! He started freaking out!
